THE VAELTHIR - THE FIRST ELVES 

The elves were once a single people known as the Vaelthir. They inhabited the vast region where mountains, forests, and sea met in natural harmony. They practiced Air, Earth, and Water crystal traditions in balance and followed one unified spiritual doctrine known as the Living Continuum.

The Living Continuum teaches that the Land is sacred, the Elements are its expression, and all elven souls return to the same eternal spiritual current.

Their shared afterlife is called Elar Theryn - The Ever Grove Beyond the Veil. No matter their discipline, all elves return there. There is no divided destiny. 

 

 

Both gather periodically at the sacred site of the Shattering Tempest for remembrance ceremonies. Political tension may exist, but spiritual unity is absolute.

THE SHATTERING TEMPEST 

A catastrophic convergence of overlapping elemental rituals destabilized wind, root, and tide. Mountains fractured, forests cracked stone, and tides surged violently. This event became known as the Shattering Tempest. The disaster did not create hatred. It created caution and philosophical reflection.

 

THE PHILOSOPHICAL DIVERGENCE 


Two disciplined interpretations emerged:

  • Path of Ascension - refinement of Air and spiritual elevation. 
  • Path of Continuance - grounding power through Earth and Water interdependence. 

This was not a war. It was a measured separation of practice. The elves remained united in ancestry, faith, and spiritual destiny.

  • Both uphold the Living Continuum.

THE AETHERYN ASCENDANCY
NORTHERN ELVES
Location: Northern mountain regions near the frozen borders. 


Crystal Alignment: Primary Air. Structured arcane wind discipline.

Society: Isolated, contemplative, monk-like. They do not trade directly with humans. Human goods are acquired through southern intermediaries. 

Appearance: Pale or silver-toned skin. Light hair (silver, pale blond, occasional brown). Sharper features. Controlled expressions. 

Crafting: White stone temples, silver armor, crystal lattice towers, wind harps. Food: Mountain grains, cliff fruits, bird meats, herbal infusions. 

Government: The Sky Conclave - High Hierarch of the Veil (spiritual leader), Warden of the Gale Host (military authority), Archivist of the Upper Vault (knowledge and crystal doctrine).

Military Identity: Silver plate armor, structured formations, wind mages prominent, chain and layered cloth for rangers. 

Major Cities: 

  • Capital - Caeltharion (summit city carved into a mountain crown). 
  • Exchange City - Ael Vareth (southern facing trade and diplomatic hub). 

THE THALORIEN COVENANT
SOUTHERN ELVES 

Location:
Deep forests near the coast, central elven zone.


Crystal Alignment:
Primary Earth, Secondary Water. 

Society:
Trade-active with humans. Culturally open. Forest and coastal communities. 

Appearance:
Warmer bronze or sun-touched skin. More human-influenced facial structure. Beards possible. Hair varied (brown, dark, occasional blond through lineage mixing). 

Crafting: Living wood architecture, coral and shell inlays, bark-infused leather armor. Food: Fish and sea harvest, forest game, root vegetables, fruits, herbs, salt preservation. 

Government: The Circle of Living Boughs - First Rootspeaker (spiritual guide), Tide Marshal (military leader), Grove Seer (crystal overseer). 

Military Identity: Leather-heavy armor, ranger-focused units, druids central to belief and strategy.

Major Cities: 

  • Capital - Lethariel Cove (coastal city integrated into sea cliffs and living trees). Exchange City - Myrenthil Grove (northern forest trade hub near Ael Vareth). THE TWIN EXCHANGE CITIES
  • Ael Vareth and Myrenthil Grove function as diplomatic and commercial bridges between north and south. 

Crystal inspection halls, scholarly debate, seasonal diplomacy, and trade occur here. 

The emotional tone of the populations often mirrors the harmony or tension between the High Hierarch and the First Rootspeaker.

Southern Thalorien: darker leather armor, earth tones, druids, rogues, shield bearers. Northern Aetheryn: silver plate, white and light blue tones, wind mages, disciplined formations. CURRENT ERA STATUS

The elves are unified by faith but distinct in discipline. 

They are not enemies. 

They are not fragmented. 

They are disciplined brothers walking parallel paths under one eternal spiritual canopy.
